This program addresses the job performance requirements of the National Fire Protection Agency, 1041 Standard for Fire Service Instructor Qualifications, Instructor 1. The course prepares the program participants for planning instruction, using a variety of methods, teaching diverse learners, and evaluating course outcomes. The course also provides guidelines for addressing the critical issues of safety and the legal issues of training, and it provides opportunities to participate in application activities.

Students will be required to pass the Pro-board/NPQ Instructor I written exam, as well as successfully deliver a a presentation which meets the criteria of the included Fire Instructor I score sheet. Both the written exam and presentation will be conducted on "Test day." 

Please complete all weekly assignments and submit them prior to the end of each week. For the discussion questions you are required to place an original response and substantive reply to at least one of your classmates. Do not reply with phrases such as " I agree with you", or "Good job". 

Captain Anderson and Lt. William Moore are your primary instructors. The best method for communication is via email. Don't hesitate to call if you have questions or need assistance. 

This course prepares the student to fulfill the duties of an entry level station officer supervising a single company. The course is based on the 40-hour traditional course. The course is in hybrid format with much of the course work being completed online. After completing this course, students will have met the requirements outlined for Fire Officer I as described in NFPA Standard 1021, 2014 edition. These objectives will be met through course work and the Fire Officer I Task Book created by Georgia Firefighters Standards and Training. Students who successfully complete the course are eligible to take the NPQ Fire Officer I certification exam.

This course lists all pre-course work required for completion prior to your first classroom day of Fire Instructor II.
